Jester King Co-hosts Black is Beautiful 5K Fun Run

Community concern is a core value of our Jester King philosophy, and fuels our ongoing charitable efforts. While monetary donations are vital to nonprofit organizations, we and our community can support worthy causes in other ways.

Through volunteerism with our JK Volunteer Corps and charitable giving via our Noble Cause program, we routinely raise funds and awareness for community causes. We and our supporters have contributed funds and volunteer hours for the Central Texas Food Bank, Casa Marianella, Integral Health Austin, Jolt Initiative, Hill Country Ride for AIDS, Urban Roots, AGE of Central Texas, Hill Country Conservancy, Pink Boots Society, and many other nonprofits.

At Jester King we are also committed to using our resources to support and amplify the voices and efforts of others, including our industry colleague Marcus Baskerville of Weathered Souls and his Black is Beautiful craft beer industry initiative as well as Texas Bakers Against Racism.

With the support of our community, in 2020 alone we’ve contributed over $30,000 to social justice and criminal reform related organizations including the Austin Justice Coalition, the NAACP and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and the African American Youth Harvest Foundation. As part of these partnerships, we strive to advocate for racial equity in our community and society as a whole.

We are pleased to support another industry colleague and advocate for social justice, Marvis Dixon. You don’t have to look far to find Marvis out and about in the community. When he’s not busy working at Family Business Beer Co., he’s out promoting the Black is Beautiful initiative with his flag on display, and organizing a series of Black is Beautiful 5K runs.

On Saturday, October 17th, we will be co-hosting the Black is Beautiful 5K Fun Run at Jester King. This event will be a 5K (3.1 mile) run/jog/walk through our farm and native Hill Country land that covers 170 acres.spectator area, and will be limited to a maximum of one hundred registrants.

Packet pickup will begin by 9am, and the run itself will start at 10am. The registration fee is $45 and includes a t-shirt and medal, with the majority of the proceeds benefiting our charitable recipient.

In order to ensure health and safety protocols, we will be releasing runners in waves and limiting the number of spectators. For more details, please check the Black is Beautiful 5K event page.

We will also be hosting an onsite silent auction featuring Jester King packaged experiences, including a stay at the Tipping T Inn, private group goat run, beer tastings, and more. Stay tuned to our FB event page for more details.

All proceeds will benefit Urban Roots, a local nonprofit which cultivates leadership skills through food and farming to transform the lives of young people and inspire, engage, and nourish the community. We agree with the Urban Roots philosophy that empowered youth can become healthy, productive, civically-engaged community members.

Thanks to Marvis for offering Jester King the opportunity to host one of his runs on our property, and for bringing on co-organizer Roger Lewis of Beer Garden Run and Soler's Sports. We appreciate Roger bringing over thirty years of experience in race management to support this event that promises to be even larger than our spring FarmK Run.

We hope that you'll join us for this fun inaugural event that brings people closer to our community, land and farm at Jester King. Be sure to register as soon as possible to secure your spot!
