Our philosophy at Jester King is strongly rooted in creating a sense of place by tying our guests’ experience to a time, place, and people. Whether dining onsite with friends and family, eating hearth-baked Hill Country sourdough bread that you picked up curbside, or enjoying one of our beers purchased from your local retailer, our intent is to build a connection and experience with our guests and community.
We could not foster these relationships without the people who work tirelessly every week at Jester King, from the front of house to our kitchen, our production team to our artists, and many more! With this in mind, we continue our Jester King staff spotlight series so you can get to know our team. This week meet the Private Events Assistant Manager for The Hall at Jester King, Myrna Lincoln!
Myrna has been with Jester King in various capacities for about three years now. She currently works with Taylor Gardner at The Hall at Jester King to put on beautiful events for our guests. Find out more about Myrna in the interview below:
How long have you worked at Jester King?
I’ve worked for Jester King for almost 3 years in several different roles. Currently, I am the Private Event Assistant Manager for The Hall at Jester King. The role involves managing our space, catering, and staff for a variety of events. I am involved with client communications, lead conversions, constructing individualized proposals, and ensuring each and every event we have is a success!
What is your background?
I hail from ye old Massachusetts where I went to school for sports medicine and psychology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Post-graduation I did a program called AmeriCorps that brought me to Austin, Texas in 2015.
I’ve had several service industry jobs since where I feel like I am truly able to express myself. Celebrating my affinity for natural wine, beer making, and bringing people together around a common interest is an absolute pleasure.
What does our philosophy of “time, place and people” mean to you?
To me, our philosophy means if it ain’t about the people then what’s the point? We would be nothing without the humans that choose to work at Jester King day in and day out as well as the guests we serve. Our shared respect and appreciation for our environment is what allows us to create a space that produces truly magical things.
What do you love most about working at Jester King?
I come for the beer and stay for the love of the people. I can’t imagine working with any other team. It takes progressive, focused, driven folks to make something out of nothing. And that is what has happened over the years for The Hall at Jester King. We make mini miracles happen each weekend and I am consistently in awe of the true grit these folks possess.
What are a few of your favorite Jester King beers? A few of your favorite food menu items?
My first JK beer holds a special place in my heart: Biere D’ Sangiovese. Other favorites: Abscission, Aurelian Lure, Spon, Petite Prince, Colonel Toby. Latest obsession: Ghost Cannon.
What else do you enjoy drinking?
Waterloo Lime, Little City’s The Messenger, Mountain Dew Super Nova, and Sugar Free Red Bull.
What’s on your bucket list?
Half marathon, crush more of the PCT, be an extra in a movie, and overcome my fear of public speaking.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I’m playing with my son Teddy, watching the Great British Baking Show, grabbing a beer, or at the Oak Hill Goodwill.
I can’t live without:
Cheese.
Anything else you'd like to share?
Best book I’ve read this year was Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins.
