Shelter in Place & What it Means for Jester King

As we know, Travis County as well as other counties across our state have issued "stay at home orders", effective through April 13th. People are asked to only leave their homes for "essential activities". We've received questions about what this means for local restaurants, breweries, and brewpubs, including Jester King?

Jester King will remain open for food, beer, and wine to go, everyday from 12-8pm, as we have for the last several days. We are closed to the public aside from to go orders. We, as well as our peers in the restaurant and beverage industry, fall within the category of "essential businesses." As Governor Abbot stated in his March 19th virtual conference, curbside service from restaurants will play an important role in the days ahead with grocery stores hard pressed to meet food demand.

To ensure our food preparation and delivery are safe, we are complying with the Social Distancing Requirements of the order, which include:

  • Maintaining at least a six-foot distance from other individuals;

  • Washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds as frequently as possible or using hand sanitizer;

  • Covering coughs or sneezes (into the sleeve or elbow, not hands)

  • Regularly cleaning high-touch surfaces, and not shaking hands.

As part of our normal practices, everyone on our team is certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services for food handling. Please be assured that food safety and handling are paramount to us, as we are all in this together.

We hope you'll consider us as a to-go option in the weeks ahead. Small businesses will suffer the most economically during this crisis, so we ask you to support small, local, and independent like you never have before when it comes to takeout orders. Thanks for your support during this critical time.
