Jester King Bug Farm

We're pleased to introduce Bug Farm -- our re-brew of 2014 Hibernal Dichotomous! 2014 Hibernal Dichotomous was a farmhouse ale brewed with lavender, rosemary and spearmint and refermented with fresh pressed watermelon juice. It was released in April of 2015.

The original recipe for Bug Farm was the brainchild of former Jester King Head Brewer Garrett Crowell, now the founder of Yokefellow Beer. The name "Bug Farm" came from what we wrote on the head of the barrels containing a portion of the original beer blend.

We packaged Bug Farm back in September of 2019. During the bottle conditioning phase, the beer became "ropey", developing a somewhat viscous texture on the palate. In our experience, the ropiness goes away after several months of conditioning as Brettanomyces yeast works its magic. As of today, Bug Farm is presenting beautifully. The color from the watermelon has faded, but the flavor is delightful, and we believe it's a fitting tribute to its forbearer!

Bug Farm will be released today at Noon central at Jester King. It will be available in 750ml ($20) bottles to go and by the glass. To place a curbside order, please follow this link (https://www.toasttab.com/jesterkingbrewery/v3). Curbside pickup is available 7 days a week from 12-8pm. Proxies are welcome (please designate when ordering online). Shipping and delivery are illegal in Texas, unfortunately. We have about 5,200 bottles available. There's no bottle limit. Bug Farm will see limited distribution in Texas from our friends at Flood Distribution.

To make a reservation to come visit our re-imagined picnic and park grounds and enjoy Bug Farm at Jester King, please follow this link (https://www.exploretock.com/jesterkingbrewery). We're open Wednesday to Friday every week! Cheers!
