Jester King 2020 Terroir Project

Jester King 2020 Terroir Project is now out! Our Terroir Project beers are co-fermentations of grapes and grains in collaboration with the legendary Firestone Walker Brewing Co.!

For our 2020 release, we crushed by foot 2,000 pounds of hand-harvested, whole-cluster Zinfandel grapes grown in Sulphur Bluff, Texas. We then let the crushed grapes spontaneously ferment for about 5 days before adding several hundred gallons of pale, lightly hopped wort (unfermented beer). We then let the grape must and wort spontaneously ferment to total dryness before racking the beer/wine hybrid to neutral oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and maturation. About a year later, we blended the beer/wine hybrid and 100% naturally conditioned it in bottles and kegs.

2020 Terroir Project is 6.9% ABV. It's now available in 750ml bottles ($24) for curbside pickup. Please follow this link (https://www.toasttab.com/jesterkingbrewery/v3) to place an order and schedule a time for pickup 7 days a week from 12-8pm. Pickups may be scheduled two weeks in advance. Proxies welcome (please designate). We have about 700 bottles available with a bottle limit of four per person per day.

Also, please make a reservation to visit our new picnic and park grounds setup at Jester King, open Wednesday to Sunday each week (https://www.exploretock.com/jesterkingbrewery), and enjoy great food, drink, and (socially distanced) community in the beautiful Texas Hill Country!

We'd like to thank Jeffers Richardson and Jim Crooks of Firestone Walker for the creation of the Terroir Project, and Jim for his continued stewardship of the program. The Terroir Project for us has been an opportunity to explore the shared philosophy, vocabulary, process, equipment, and sensory experience between wild beer and wine, and to learn from the truly world-class breweries that participate. We're grateful to be a part of the Terroir Project! Cheers and we hope you enjoy our 2020 release!
